Belfast Titanic Festival

The annual Titanic Made in Belfast festival took place this year over the period 3 – 11 April 2010. It was officially opened in Belfast City Hall by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Naomi Young and the President of The Belfast Titanic Society, John Andrews.

On Saturday 11 April ten members of the Addergoole Titanic Society travelled to Belfast for the festival and a tour of Belfast’s Titanic sites.  Society members were amazed to see a picture of Katherine McGowan, one of the Addergoole Fourteen, who perished. The original of this picture had been sold at auction in the 1980's for £1,500.

On Sunday 12 April two members of the Addergoole Titanic Society travelled to Cobh and participated in that ceremony, where the ATS Secretary, Mary Rowland, laid a wreath to the memory of the Addergoole Fourteen. 79 passengers who boarded at Queenstown were lost when Titanic sank, 11 of these were from Addergoole (14%).

These are the pictures taken on the day in Belfast by Society photographer Kenneth Noone.
